Current Work
Cross Bikes
I have started the cross bikes for the 2010 season.
This August my first child is entering the world and I wanted a head start on the cross bikes. I had a few attempts to get some people back in the queue after putting things on delay for economical reasons but that has always proven to be a hard thing accomplish. Seems to never work out. Anyway it worked out for the better since I have 5 cross bikes that I want delivered before the season is underway and now I should be good to go.
First up is Ken's. His is getting a rather intense paint scheme so I am glad it is getting finished first. I look forward to seeing this bike as a complete unit. Then Shai's bike which will ultimately live in Israel, Devin's in Canada, Tobias in Germany and lastly Pavle (well actually he switched back to a road bike). My goal is to get these all done before the baby comes.
Here are a few shots of Ken's bike in the works:
I am going to the Phillies tonight! They are playing the Indians which should be a fun game.
Cheers,
Drew
Paint?, Paint?
Nick's road bike is waiting for a paint scheme. He is a graphics person and super busy now.
Karen's bike is waiting for a paint decision as well. Luckily there are 3 bikes at paint in front of these bikes and we have some time to spare. Here are some shots of the frames waiting to get packed up, maybe it will help inspire the answers.
Been working on the frameset I am building for Jamie Swan. I have finished the fork and stem. Today I am building the seatpost. I might need to sideline the actual frame for Rick's 29R if we get all the details ironed out in the next day. Here are some shots of the fork and stem in the works.
The road bike Jamie built me in trade of the mtb I am building him won best road bike at Cirque. It is a nice honor and I plan on riding the crap out of that bike!
Cheers,
Drew
Kind Words
Received this e-mail from a recent customer. I thought they were some very kind words.
Quote:
"Just wanted to write a few words on my new Engin bicycle.
I have around 225 mile on it so far.
First, the obvious; its beautiful. The frame, paint & accessories are fantastic. I do not get tired of looking at it.
But more important obviously is the ride. The verdict so far is “super.”
It was a little hard to separate the excitement of having the bike delivered after watching it all the way from a box of tubes with a sketch, to the finished product; and the ride itself. Couple that with a number of major changes over my previous rides (completely new shifting system, tubeless tires and a bicycle built more for speed than light touring), and I struggled to try to divorce the bicycle itself from the trim. But of course, there is no reason to separate them. All through the planning, Drew & Ed were trying to fit things together to make an overall fun ride.
BINGO! I have had a great time with the bicycle. It does exactly what I wanted. It handles wonderfully. I have taken hills & curves that I have done many times in the past, with more confidence & speed. As I learn how to maximize shifting, the compact double has been fine.
Todd’s paint, Drew’s craftsmanship and Ed’s advice have combined to make me very happy I bought this bicycle.
Thanks to you all and to Adam who chimed in also."
It is always great to hear from customers and how they are enjoying their new bikes.
Have Karen's bike almost ready to send off to paint. There are a few other bikes already there so I sidelined it for a few days to get started on Jamie's 953 bike since they take forever.
Here is a few shots of Jamie's 953 bike in the beginning.
Off to the Cirque after work today.
Cheers,
Drew

You deserve a letter like
You deserve a letter like this for every bike you make, Drew. Your customers are probably out riding all the time though.
Bikes with paint
I have been informed I post too much about work and never put up photos of bikes with paint.
Well I have to agree I hold back on things that happen outside work but that is just me. The photos with paint I also agree and here are 2 bikes that left last week and this week. I think the main reason is the finish is more personal and I don't want everyone looking at something and saying "I want the same as this bike or that bike". Some people like knowing their bike is original. The majority of the bikes on the website are schemes I came up with and don't mind if people copy them. One of the paint jobs is a single color and nice and simple and the other is a bit of a combination of some other styles. I think they both look super slick.

Phillies
Nice. Enjoy the game. We are heading down there tomorrow.
9th inning scare
Got crazy in the 9th but was a good ending to a great game by the old man pitching another stellar game.
